Graffiti. A disused building near to where I live provides the backdrop for a relaxed picture of my Son.

An image from a sequence of work taken of my Son shooting his BB guns. I used the Zuiko 50mm F2 lens set at F2 to isolate the end of the pistol barrel from the rest of the subject matter.

Whilst photographing a local churchyard I came across this headstone bearing a rather unfortunate name.

Dump, Hall Dale Quarry. Once a huge Limestone Quarry, Hall Dale fell into disuse many years ago. Nature has now begun to take back the area, and it has become home to much wildlife. The once bright rock faces are now used by climbers. However, man's legacy can still be seen, as shown by this rubbish infested pool.

Depth of Field. I took this picture of my Son to illustrate the shallow depth of field provided by the Zuiko 50mm f1.2 lens, when set at f1.2. This lens also displays superb bokeh that can also be seen here.

Pebbles
An early photograph of me, taken in 1962 when I was around two years old. The original is in my mothers possesion and has suffered colour loss and staining. The sweater had some particulary nasty brown staining. I cloned samples from unaffected areas onto those damaged. There were many dark spots on my face which I lightly airbrushed over, using colour and tonal samples from cleaner parts of my face. The picture in general had suffered scratching in many places, to both subject and backgound. These also, I airbrushed or cloned out of the image. The original pictue is quite grainy but soft. I am not sure if this is intentional or not. My own preference for this kind of subject is to be a little on the soft side, therefore I did not sharpen it in any way. The original has been hand coloured and was typical of early 1960s professional portraiture. It is a wonderful effect and one I wished to preserve in my reproduction. Because of this, I respected the colour balance and overall contrast. The edges of the print were tatty and the card frame it was stuck to is in poor shape. I removed these to tidy up the final image.

This is a sepia toned image was produced from a 35mm colour slide. The result was printed and framed.
