I try to grow a wide variety of flowers as they make good subject matter and have the bonus of attracting a lot of insect fauna. All makes for good macrophotography.

May is a wonderful time of year for capturing the explosive colours that spring gives. My image libraries are full of stuff like this, as I never tire of recording this season. This particular offering was taken on one of the many public footpaths that criss-cross my home town of Matlock.

Early Purple Orchid. A real sign of Spring in Derbyshire's Limestone regions, is the flowering of the Early Purple Orchid. They can often be found around old mine spoilheaps, which is where I photographed this one.
